To my mind the only thing worse than being in an accident is being in an accident and being uninsured. As bad as an accident may be, at least in the U.K. you can more or less be assured of getting good treatment in any of the public hospitals around the country. So at least you stand a good chance of recovering physically. If you are insured you can also be pretty certain that you will get the cost of repairs to your vehicle covered if you have fully comprehensive coverage. Even if the incident was your fault you would not have to fork out for any other vehicles involved either. To me if you do not have fully comprehensive coverage you are not really insured. Anyway, imagine being involved in an incident, which is your fault, and being responsible for the costs of fatalities in another vehicle. It doesn’t bear thinking about. You may be able to recover physically, but I’m not sure about financially.
